If your Viagra pill doesn’t work

Unfortunately for men, as they age they face such a complicated and challenging tribulation as erectile dysfunction (or ED). However in 1996 it would seem a breakthrough was made with the release of Viagra – the first drug that saved men from their embarrassments of ED. Other similar meds would soon follow suit.

However, now, almost 20 years later, we can say that unfortunately as good as it sounds, Viagra is not a magic wand and doesn’t work in 100% of cases. In fact, it’s useful only in 67% of cases of ED (in average).

If your Viagra pill doesn’t work

There are several possible explanations why Viagra can be ineffective:

  • It’s normal for the body to react to drugs over time by building a degree of resistance to them (quite often it’s a full resistance we speak of).

It happens sometime that the body builds tolerance towards a certain drug, especially if it’s used for a sustained time. Of course, many factors matter in such case, like for example, your body’s response to certain chemical compounds due to genetic predisposition, or the quality of the drug, etc.

  • Taking Viagra or its alternatives just is not worth the possible supplementary effects it may bring along with ED treatment.

The responses may vary and there can be a number of situations when you can tell with full confidence that Viagra is not an option. Some guys have serious conditions that prevent them from using PED-5 inhibitors. Others may experience severe side-effects.

  • Viagra’s fame as an absolute answer to ED plays a low-down trick with its reputation.

As easy as it is really, ED may have issues other than the physical ones cause it. So it’s natural that sometimes men just go ahead and shoot it without even consulting the doctor first (it’s not manly to discuss such sensitive issue with someone else, is it?).

So what’s the next step if Viagra doesn’t work? It turns out, there are several possibilities, to be specific.

You may want to discuss it with your doctor once again. Further diagnosing the issue will do no harm. For example, the condition that causes the ED could have changed requiring making appropriate amendments into the treatment plan reflecting that, or even scratching it out altogether. Or there may be other instances.

Based on the discussions, the doctor will probably refer you for undergoing a more detailed examination and a few more scores of lab tests and screenings.

Adjusting the use of oral drugs

The basic rule for all the drugs is, stick to the instructions and do not overdose or use otherwise improperly. That’s how you make it effective and working in your favor.

There are several principles of correct Viagra application:

  • It should be applied at about half an hour (maybe 45 minutes) prior to engaging in sexual intercourse.
  • No overeating prior to the intake – ideally not eating at all, or at the very least staying away from fat-rich foods.
  • Don’t forget to stimulate yourself before sex – Viagra is not a magnet, it will not raise your penis vertically, you have to take part in this process, some degree of manual effort has to be applied to it.
  • Don’t drink too much (small doses of alcohol are acceptable, although much depends on your reaction to alcohol in general).
  • Have the patience to give the drug time to make a more or less tangible impact. This may not happen straight away, you may happen to need more than one or two (some say at least four) tries before you start feeling the actual effect.
  • Also, there’s a question of individual receptivity. In some guys, a low dosage is sufficient to go full forward. Others may have different metabolism and might just need some more incentives to start firing on all cylinders.
  • We would advise to try other ED medications or playing with Viagra dosage, increasing it bit by bit, with full compliance to instructions so that you don’t go overboard.
  • The usual dosage of Viagra at the start is 50mg, but if it has no effect doubling it up to 100 mg. Same with other ED meds – slowly increase the dosage.
  • However, if still brings no results, maybe it makes sense to try a different medicine. The ineffectiveness of one medication doesn’t mean that another won’t be helpful.

Viagra Alternatives at Online Pharmacies

It’s also old news news that there exist specialized treatments alternative to Viagra. If you’re not scared off by the very concept of mechanical manipulations with your penis, injecting it (we now how it sounds, but in fact it’s a totally painless and quite effective procedure) with various compounds may just work out fine for you. A medicine called Trimix is a good example. You need to inject it shortly (approximately 15 minutes or so) before you engage in sex. Its impact is based on relaxing penile smooth musculature therefore opening the blood channels and resulting in an an erection. It’s a very efficient means of treating the lack of erection, with success rate reaching almost 90%. Again, it’s not that scary, or at least the pros much overweigh the cons, so it’s worth giving a shot.

If, however, you feel like you’ll pass out even imagining that, there’s a nice alternative in Trimix gel. It has an even quicker impact. The drawback is the efficiency – it’s significantly less, reaching only 40%. So think twice, which one is more suitable for you.

With regards to injections, it’s probably also worth mentioning that you will first get this treatment by the hands of a nurse, then do it yourself several times under her supervision, so when you’re one on one with it, you’ll be perfectly trained to get it done quickly, painlessly and efficiently.

Another efficient solution is an injection medicine under the name of Alprostadil.  It is applied both as is and together with phentolamine (or papaverine). It’s also the quickly working compound, giving you the result within 10 minutes after injection.

As with Trimix, the patients have to suppress inner phobias for the needle. Sometimes erection may last too long, longer than planned, but then again, it’s questionable whether it’s really a disadvantage. Yet again, especially for the scaredy cats, you can heave with the sigh of relief – Alprostadil is available in form of suppository that is inserted into the urethra and slowly dissolved and absorbed by its mucous membrane. The downside is possible discomfort and irritation that the pellet may cause.

Mechanized helpers

There are a number of fancy inventions that can make your ED life a lot easier suited for every taste and budget.

Vacuum suction pumps – with this device, the vacuum built by the pump is impacting the penis so that the blood is drawn into it. The ring around the penis base helps sustain a lasting erection. It’s something that is very simple in its design, yet cumbersome and not too user friendly.

Penile implants – a tube is placed inside the body of penis with a pump located in the scrotum. The device also works as a hydraulic pump by using normal saline as its operating fluid. Installing prosthesis however means that there is no way back – it alter your body and makes itself the only way to get erection, as the penis just stops responding to any external action. It really is the last resort.

To conclude, the general rule for your fight with ED is be patient and don’t lose your courage. We know that all those attempts may frustrate the living daylight out of you, just keep in mind that there always is a reason, that’s why you should do some thinking over the preceding surrounding events and factors that could affect the whole outcome and discuss it with your doctor. Beating ED has never been an easy thing, so find some patience within.
